The Lanterns Studio Theatre, located at South Quay, Canary Wharf, offers a prime and unique open Theatrical space fit for nopt only performance, but also conferencing, presentations, concerts and productions on both a large and smaller scale with over 900 square metres of adaptable, acoustic insulated space.
The Lanterns Studio Theatre is one of London's latest venues to combine a performance space, conference area and exhibition hall all in a single and fully adaptable and modular space. Lanterns features a uniquely open and spacious area that can transform to house a wide scale of productions and attractions and would work perfectly in conjunction with all manner of event profiles. The venue is on the doorstep of South Quay DLR and Canary Wharf Jubilee Line Underground Station, putting it within minutes of the Olympic village, London's West end, the inner City and other central locations.
Behind the performance area, the space features its own Bar and Kitchen Servery with a separate area for dining and receptions. The Theatre also houses a Green room, Costume Room, Changing facilities and a Backstage area that can be secured as all entrances and exits are double fire doors with 2m access space for moving scenery and larger objects. Our Parking Area and the main roads all around our venue make for a quick arrival and departure to the Docklands central building with pedestrian access to the wonderful Thames River Walk and Millharbour Docks.
Lanterns Studio Theatre's Artistic facilities are unrivalled for both their Professional performance standard and unique implementation in the theatrical layout. Our Yamaha CIII Piano attracts the highest calibre of Pianist and accompanied musician to the Theatre, and the Lanterns has enjoyed housing a wide variety of instruments for both live acoustic performance and recording sessions. From Accordion to Marimba, and everything in between, the Lanterns Studio Theatre brings cutting edge acts from around the globe to perform and rehearse in a elegant and free environment, playing to audiences who can access our space from all parts of London.
One of the spaces most prominent facilities arrived in late 2012, and working with the English National Ballet, a 17mx17m International Standard Harlequin dance floor was installed in the space. Working with Classical and Contemporary choreographers and companies, Director Ms. Janet Viola wishes to fulfil her vision of bringing a professional standard of Dance to the Docklands and East London.
All of this and more creates an exciting new London Central space.
